It’s Liverpool vs Manchester City this weekend, and this is bound to be one of the most important matches of both teams’ seasons.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp are two of the best managers in the country, and this is bound to be an incredibly intriguing tactical battle between two of Europe’s elite sides.

If Liverpool win here, they’ll remain at the top of the Premier League, but in order to get a result, Klopp will have to get his team selection spot on.

With that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting the Reds’ starting XI here.

We think that Jurgen Klopp is going to try something a little different here.

Cast your mind back to November 2020, Liverpool played City at the Etihad, earning a 1-1 draw and they played a 4-2-3-1 formation that turned into a 4-2-4 in possession.

We think that Klopp could once again unleash that tactic here as he tries to counter City’s quality.

A 4-2-3-1/4-2-4 would make a lot of sense here, especially as Liverpool will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold here, which will undoubtedly impact the creativity within the side.

Having Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino on the pitch at the same time worked a treat in 2020 at the Etihad, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Klopp tried something similar here.

Unfortunately, Curtis Jones is a casualty as he drops out of the XI, but don’t be surprised to see him play a part off the bench against Guardiola’s side on Sunday.
