Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted to the Liverpool Echo that he was not happy with Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno after the game, as he was so good against them.
Liverpool were knocked out of the League Cup on penalties by Arsenal last night, and Leno was in wonderful form.
The £19 million Arsenal stopper (Guardian) produced a series of excellent saves in normal time, and then helped the Gunners win the shoot-out by stopping Harry Wilson.
The German’s display was excellent, but Klopp admitted after the game that he wished the Arsenal goalkeeper hadn’t been so good.
“I told [Leno] after the game, I was not too happy [about his saves!],” Klopp said. “I wish that we scored but I wanted to see that we create. There were a lot of moments in the game it just didn’t work out tonight and that is OK.”
Both Arsenal and Liverpool named much changed line-ups for the contest, but Arteta will surely be pleased that he stuck by Leno now.

Arsenal could have handed Alex Runarsson a debut, but instead he was left on the bench, with Leno preferred.
Leno’s excellent display was an indication of why Arsenal opted to keep him at the club, despite Emi Martinez’s fine form towards the back of last campaign.
Arteta’s side will now take on Manchester City in the quarter finals of the competition.
