Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool star Diogo Jota is still likely to miss a minimum of three weeks, ruling him out of some major clashes.

The 24-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball for the Reds since a Champions League game with Midtjylland back on December 9.

Prior to that, Jota had been ripping up his first season with Liverpool following a £45 million summer move from Wolves.

At the time of his injury, the Portuguese attacker had netted nine goals in 10 starts across all competitions under Klopp.

But the German manager has some bad news on that front.

Klopp has told The Echo that Liverpool won’t have Jota available within the next two weeks, insisting he needs time.

He said: “Diogo is a few weeks away. Will not be next one or two. He needs time. How much I miss him is not important. I am not allowed to miss him. He is not there and we deal with it.”

This is a problem for Liverpool because Klopp’s side have some massive games on the horizon.

On Sunday, they visit rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup, before then going to Spurs on the following Thursday.

And on February 7 – less than three weeks away – the Reds face Manchester City.

These are three massive games for Liverpool and to be missing Jota for all three is going to be such a big blow, especially if their trident of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane don’t buck their ideas up.
