Roberto Firmino was the hero for Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian forward popped up with a last-minute winner as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.
It’s been a pretty difficult season for Firmino, a £29 million signing by Liverpool in the summer of 2015.
Not only have the goals dried up, but the 29-year-old, who has scored three times in 20 appearances this season, has also lost his place up front to new signing Diogo Jota.
And the Liverpool boss has stressed the importance of Firmino believing in his own ability, but suggested that going by his training-ground form, there’s no confidence issue.
He said to Liverpool’s official website: “I just hope that he never doubts himself – actually in training it doesn’t look like [it].
Firmino still has a huge role to play at Liverpool this season, perhaps bigger than he thought a few weeks ago when Jota was benching him.
But the former Wolves attacker will be out until February and a lot can happen in two months.
If the former Hoffenheim star can get back to his talismanic best, like the 26 goals he managed during the 2017-18 campaign, then it’ll go a long, long way to helping Klopp’s side this season
