Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told the Liverpool Echo that Takumi Minamino is desperate to play more.

Minamino joined Liverpool in January, but he has only made a limited impact so far.

The Japanese international has still not scored his first Liverpool goal, but there have started to be signs that he is adjusting to the league now.

Minamino put in arguably his best performance in a Liverpool shirt yesterday, as he helped his side pick up a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United.

And Klopp is confident that Minamino will come good for Liverpool next season.

“Taki has the perfect mindset for us,” Klopp said. “He has big ambitions and he wants to play more often. Everyone needs time. All the [signings] needed time except for maybe Virgil. All good with him.”

Minamino’s task of breaking into Liverpool’s team is certainly not a simple one, as the Reds have so much attacking quality.

The former Red Bull Salzburg man has Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to compete with, and breaking up their partnership up-front will be extremely difficult.
