Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told the Liverpool Echo that James Milner is not set to be fit for his side’s match against Arsenal.

There were suggestions that Milner could return from injury to start for Liverpool tomorrow.

However, Klopp says that Liverpool’s physios have informed him that Milner will only make it off the treatment table in time to feature at the weekend.

“My last info yesterday is Millie is in contention for Chelsea game,” Klopp said.

“He didn’t train yesterday. Apart from that, no new injuries on the list. We should have same squad like we had for Burnley game.”

Milner has only been able to start one game since the restart for Liverpool, as he has been struggling with injury.

His return should be a boost to the Reds though, as he could be a potential replacement for Jordan Henderson.

Milner is arguably the member of Liverpool’s squad who possesses the most similar characteristics as their captain, so he would surely have a strong chance of featuring if he was fit.

Liverpool, of course, have already wrapped up the title – but will be wanting to return to winning ways against Arsenal, as they aim to break through the 100 point barrier.
