The Liverpool boss admitted that Adam Lallana is a doubt for Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manager Jurgen Klopp speaks to the media during the Liverpool FC Press Conference at Anfield on August 22, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Reds boss Jürgen Klopp spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference, and shared a potential blow for his side ahead of their clash with Spurs on Sunday, suggesting that Adam Lallana could miss out, as quoted by ESPN.

The 29-year-old suffered a serious thigh injury during pre-season, and has made just one Premier League start this term, along with five substitute appearances, as Klopp tries to nurture him back to full fitness.

Liverpool have undoubtedly missed Lallana’s craft and guile in the final third, and with Philippe Coutinho now gone, there will be even greater emphasis on the former Southampton man to produce the goods in the absence of the Brazilian.

Klopp though, urged caution with regards to Lallana, when speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference, admitting that he might miss out on Sunday clash wIth Tottenham at Anfield, as quoted by ESPN:

“It’s really unlucky. It was a really serious injury in the summer. Because of Adam’s quality and attitude in training, it looks immediately like we can put him in, [but] physical-wise he’s not fit. The two things that happened after his big injury were in the 10 or 15 minutes after he came on. He’s maybe available for Tottenham, and if not then he’ll have missed three games. That’s really OK but of course it’s not cool. The body needs to adapt again to the intensity.”

Sunday’s game is a vitally important one for both Liverpool and Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino’s men can leapfrog Klopp’s side in the table with a win, and they will feel a whole lot more confident about their chances of doing just that if Lallana is not involved.
