The Liverpool ace has been in superb form this season.
Reds boss Jürgen Klopp addressed the media today ahead of his side’s clash with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night, and offered high words of praise for Roberto Firmino suggesting that he would always be first pick for the other players in his squad during training sessions, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Brazilian ace has been in sensational form for Liverpool this season, scoring 16 goals and chipping in with eight assists in 29 outings in all competitions thus far, and he has been a major driving force behind his side’s scintillating attacking play.
Firmino joined the Merseyside outfit from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £29 million, and he has proven to be nothing short of a resounding success.
Klopp addressed the media during his pre-match press conference today, and raved about the quality of the 26-year-old, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“You see him in training and think, ‘what a work ethic, what an attitude’, and he brings it on the pitch as well. He never rests. You have to pull him out, you have to tell him, ‘come on, stop, sit here, calm’. I’m pretty sure if I give the players the opportunity to have a free choice in training [to] build teams by themselves, Bobby is one of the first they would pick.”
Liverpool still have a real fight on their hands if they are to finish inside the top four, and face a tricky Champions League tie against Porto next month.
If they are to have any chance whatsoever of achieving success both domestically and on the continent this term, Firmino will have to maintain his sizzling form.
