Jurgen Klopp has revealed to Liverpool’s official website that Sepp van den Berg is looking like a player in training.
Liverpool signed the exciting Dutch defender last summer but, being only 17 at the time, Michael Edwards brought Van den Berg in for the future.
Despite only being 18 now, the big centre-back has already made his senior debut and has started three games across all competitions for the Reds this season.
Long term, much is expected of the teenager and his German manager has revealed that there’s some ‘very promising’ signs in training.
He said: “For Sepp it is always hard for centre-halves. We have four, so sitting outside [but] he looks really promising in training sessions.”
Liverpool need only two wins to wrap the Premier League title, having secured a 25-point lead before the season was suspended due to the global health crisis.
And when they do clinch it, it isn’t unthinkable that Klopp will give many of his young players – including Van den Berg – some Premier League experience because, well, why not?
