Jurgen Klopp has slammed the referee as he felt that Ibrahima Konate was fouled by Bryan Mbeumo, as Liverpool succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Brentford.

Konate struggled to deal with an aerial ball, before Mbeumo shrugged him, before slotting the ball past Alisson.

Initially, the 3rd goal of the night conceded by Liverpool was checked by VAR.

However, the contact made by Mbeumo was deemed fair, as Klopp and Co. suffered yet another avoidable result in the Premier League this season.

Online, the general consensus was that Ibrahima Konate got bullied by Bryan Mbeumo for the goal.

In fact, many were surprised that the World Cup finalist even complained to the referee, despite ending up 2nd best in the physical battle against the Brentford striker.

On a night where Konate conceded an unfortunate own goal as well, it seemed as if he was simply having a rare nightmare of a game.

However, a certain voice from the Reds disagrees with the goal being deemed as fair.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp tore into the refereeing for the third goal scored by Brentford, as he felt Ibrahima Konate was fouled by Bryan Mbeumo.

“The third goal (scored by Bryan Mbeumo) should not be a goal, easy as that.”

“If you’ve ever played football and you’re on a full sprint, and you get a slight push, you go down because you can’t keep balance.”

“That’s how it is and you can see that with Ibou [Konate], that’s what [Stuart] Attwell wanted to see differently”, Klopp told beIN SPORTS.

In our view: Klopp is deflecting from a shocking Liverpool display

First things first, the physical battle between Ibrahima Konate and Bryan Mbeumo for the third goal was completely fair.

If anything, Konate was uncharacteristically meek and got deservedly punished by Mbeumo.

Ultimately, Jurgen Klopp must simply accept that Liverpool were miles off it on the night, instead of being spiteful towards the referee, which was spot on for the call.
