Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara ‘look really good’ and are chomping at the bit to be involved in Saturday’s Merseyside derby with Everton, Jurgen Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.

The Premier League champions will not need reminding that, should they lose against their bitter rivals for the first time in a decade tomorrow, they will fall six points behind Carlo Ancelotti’s early pacesetters at the top of the table.

So, with that 7-2 thumping at Villa Park still hanging like a dark cloud above the red half of Stanley Park, the impending return of two star players after spells on the sidelines is certainly very welcome.

Speaking ahead of perhaps the most exciting Merseyside derby in recent memory, Klopp has confirmed that Thiago could be set to sample the cross-city rivalry for the first time with Mane also in contention to feature.

“They’ve had five or six days in training I will say. They look really good. We would never risk anyone,” Klopp says.

“(Thiago and Mane) they are ready.”

Alisson Becker could also make a welcome return in goal to replace the stricken Adrian, although Saturday’s fixture will come to soon for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Naby Keita.

It remains to be seen whether Klopp will throw Thiago in at the deep end for his first Premier League start.

But, after three goals in two matches against Arsenal and Chelsea, expect Mane to force his way straight back into the starting XI, perhaps at Diogo Jota’s expense.
