Liverpool have been hit hard by injuries this season, and that is a big reason why the defending Premier League champions may not even finish in the top four.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are long-term injury concerns. Jordan Henderson is on the sidelines at the moment, while Fabinho and Thiago have also been out this season.

Diogo Jota and Naby Keita have also spent weeks on the sidelines due to injury problems. Even star goalkeeper Alisson has spent time on the treatment table. There is no surprise that with many injury concerns, Jurgen Klopp’s side are in danger of missing out on the Premier League top four this season.

Liverpool manager Klopp will surely not want to talk about yet another injury, but that is exactly what he was asked during a Q&A session with some of the Under-8 players on the club’s official YouTube channel.

One of the kids asked Klopp which outfield player he would play in goal if both of his goalkeepers got injured.

While saying that he hopes that it does not happen, Klopp stated: “Probably then James Milner. Actually Milly has played for me in all positions.”

Milner is a very versatile player who can play in defence and in midfield. The former Leeds United star has predominantly played in midfield this season, but one suspects that the 35-year-old would do a good job between the posts as well.
