Jurgen Klopp caught a bit of stick for Liverpool’s shock defeat in midweek.

The Reds lost 1-0 at home to Burnley for what was their first Premier League loss at Anfield for nearly four years.

Of course, Klopp, being the man steering the ship, is always going to be most to blame on nights like that.

But the Liverpool boss didn’t do himself much favours with his team selection.

The German benched Mo Salah – who has 17 goals in 27 outings this season – and Roberto Firmino, before introducing the pair with 25 minutes left to play.

There’s a bigger game for Klopp’s troops this evening as Liverpool visit Manchester United – who earned a 0-0 draw at Anfield last week – in a fourth-round FA Cup tie.

And the former Borussia Dortmund has admitted via Goal.com that he’s definitely not leaving Salah on the bench this time around.

He said: “It makes it absolutely likely that Mo will start. I don’t think that is a massive secret.”

You couldn’t blame Klopp if he was prioritising the Premier League over the FA Cup, given that they’re fourth in the table and six points behind the Red Devils at the summit right now.

But resting a player like Salah in a game like this, no matter the competition, would be absolutely bonkers and at least the Liverpool boss seems to have come to his senses.
