Jurgen Klopp was reportedly furious with Liverpool‘s Joe Gomez on Saturday.
The Reds went down 1-0 to Nottingham Forest and James Pearce tweeted – as covered by HITC Sport – that Klopp was livid with his centre-back during the game.
With that in mind, it seems possible that the Liverpool manager could recall Nat Phillips for a Champions League visit to Ajax on Wednesday.
Phillips hasn’t kicked a ball under Klopp since a draw with Crystal Palace on the second week of the Premier League season in August.
But with Gomez increasingly erratic and Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip both injured, a recall to the starting lineup is possible.

Phillips might be rusty but remember, this is a reliable defender.
During the 2020-21 campaign, it was the Bolton-born powerhouse who played a huge role in helping Liverpool to Champions League qualification that year, with Klopp labelling his performances ‘absolutely insane‘ toward the end of that season.
Despite not playing regularly this season, he could easily come in and do a job alongside Virgil van Dijk in central defence.
Konate might be available, but Klopp is likely to keep him in reserve until the Premier League visit of Leeds United a few days later.
It’ll be Gomez or Phillips to partner Van Dijk and if the Liverpool boss was really upset with Gomez, it could be the latter in Amsterdam.
