It really feels as though Liverpool’s season got underway at the weekend as they beat Manchester City at Anfield.

Up until that point, the Reds had looked a shadow of their former selves, but against City they looked back to their very best, and if they can continue that sort of form, they could kick on and work their way back into the title race.

Unfortunately for the Reds, they have another huge challenge on the horizon as they face West Ham United.

The Hammers, of course, beat Liverpool 3-2 last season, and while the Reds are often impenetrable at Anfield, this won’t be a walk in the park by any stretch of the imagination.

Liverpool need to be at their best to get a win here, and with that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting the Reds’ starting XI for this one.

Liverpool predicted XI

We think that Jurgen Klopp will make two changes from the team that beat City on Sunday.

James Milner drops out despite putting in what could be described as a Man of the Match performance against the Cityzens – playing two games in four days at the age of 36 is a tall order so Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to the XI.

The rest of the backline remains the same as we saw against City as Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate remain out of action.

The midfield remains the same as we saw against City on Sunday, but there is a change in the attack.

Diogo Jota drops out due to injury, and he’s replaced by Darwin Nunez who plays as a left-winger for the first time for the Reds.

This is a position that Nunez has played plenty of times for Benfica, but it will be interesting to see how he gets on in that role in the Premier League.

Nunez is partnered by Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in the attack as Liverpool try to break down what is sure to be a sturdy West Ham defence.
