Liverpool face Southampton on Saturday in their final game before the lengthy World Cup break.

The Reds have had a slow start to the season, but they will be hoping to take some momentum into the break with a win against the Saints.

The south-coast club, of course, come into this game having appointed Nathan Jones as their new manager, but the Reds will be hoping to stifle any idea of a new manager bounce with a win at Anfield.

With that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting the Merseyside club’s starting XI for this one.

Liverpool predicted XI vs Southampton

We think that Jurgen Klopp will make 10 changes from the team that beat Derby County on penalties in midweek.

The Reds fielded a heavily rotated side against the Rams, and we think they’ll revert back to an XI that we’re more accustomed to seeing.

All of the defence is changed. Caoimhin Kelleher can’t retain his place over Alisson despite his midweek heroics, while Klopp fields his strongest backline as Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold return to the fold.

Fabinho starts in the heart of the midfield , while Harvey Elliott and Thiago play as the more advanced options.

Fabio Carvalho starts as the number 10 as Liverpool persist with their narrow 4-4-2 diamond formation to accommodate for their current attacking injury problems.

Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah start as the two most advanced attackers as Darwin Nunez is given a bit of rest ahead of what is sure to be a gruelling World Cup period for the attacker.

The Reds can continue to build momentum with a win against Southampton, and after losing their long unbeaten record at Anfield, they’ll be hoping to get back on track with three points at home here.
