Jurgen Klopp has lauded youngster Harvey Elliott and shared that he has had 85 ‘outstanding’ training sessions for Liverpool out of 90, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (22/07/20 at 11:00 pm).

Liverpool lifted the Premier League title yesterday after they had recorded an entertaining 5-3 win over Champions League-chasing Chelsea.

Elliott, 17, didn’t receive a Premier League’s winners medal because he didn’t play the minimum amount of games required – five.

Klopp was asked about what has changed for Liverpool to be in their current position, as he stated that ‘all the kids deserve a medal’.

“It’s all about consistency,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “We had it when we started. We had these games, high flying and crazy football. But the next game, I didn’t recognise who [the team] was and we had to work on that.

“It’s all about staying on track, staying greedy and having a high level in training. That’s why all the kids deserve a medal.

“I had a talk this week with Harvey Elliott. He had 90 sessions with us. 85 of these sessions were outstanding. He kept the level high, like all the others. That’s why we played like we played because we trained like we train.”

From Elliott’s perspective, the future is bright for the highly-rated attacker, and if he continues progressing then the medals will stack up for him.

For such a young age, he is showing great quality and it remains to be seen what role he plays for Klopp last season.

The former Fulham player mainly made a name for himself during Liverpool’s League Cup and FA Cup matches, as he will be hoping to earn more minutes in the league next term.
