Sadio Mane scored his 100th goal for Liverpool and Ibrahima Konate made his debut.
But the Reds’ 3-0 win over Crystal Palace this afternoon might be remembered for Naby Keita more than anything else.
That’s because the Guinea international added a third goal late on – and what a strike it was.
The former Red Bul Leipzig midfielder volleyed home from outside the box to put a cherry on top of a fine and physical Liverpool performance.
Mane got the rout underway in the first half to reach treble figures in terms of goals, before Mohamed Salah added a second.
Here’s what Klopp said to Match of the Day after the game: “His 100th goal for Liverpool. A massive mark. These boys work so hard and they reward themselves with these situations. It was a really good game for Sadio. He worked incredibly hard again. Mo scored from a set-piece too. And Naby… wow!”
Big chance
This was only the 26-year-old’s fifth Premier League goal for Liverpool and truthfully, he probably won’t score a better one.
He caught it perfectly and barely even reacted after watching it sail into the top corner.
This is a confident lad and his celebration – or lack of – certainly illustrated that.
It’s a huge season for Keita and one that he’ll be hoping can yield regular spots in Klopp’s first XI.
So far, Keita, who came off the bench again today, has endured an injury-hit few years on Merseyside but, with Harvey Elliott out for a while, and Georginio Wijnaldum gone to Paris Saint-Germain, there’s a big chance for Keita to become a huge player for Liverpool – if he can stay fit.
