Gary Neville noticed that Jurgen Klopp was actually happy with Liverpool taking a point in added time yesterday, as per his commentary on Sky Sports.

Injury time caution

Manchester City had two chances to counter attack late on, but were unable to take either of them.

At that stage Liverpool looked as if they were gunning to score a winner, as they continued to pile men forward.

However, they were leaving gaps at the back, and Klopp urged his team to ultimately show a bit of caution.

“Jurgen Klopp is trying to get his team into shape and saying he’s happy with the 2-2, get back behind the ball,” Neville said in the 92nd minute.

Klopp’s side certainly did not show any signs of being cautious for much of the game.

In the first-half Liverpool struggled to contain City, but after some tweaks at half-time they were much improved.

Superb entertainment

That led to a brilliantly entertaining second-half, where both sides attacked with great style.

Liverpool twice had the lead, but City pegged them back to show their own fighting spirit.

The draw was ultimately probably a fair result for both sides, after a brilliantly contested second period.

Liverpool are now in second place in the Premier League table, while City sit a point behind them in third.
