Liverpool have received two very timely fitness boosts.

The Reds kick off their Premier League campaign away to newly-promoted Norwich City in six days.

And Jurgen Klopp has revealed some very good news by confirming that Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson will both face Osasuna tomorrow.

Thiago returned to Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in France with a knock, while Henderson, the club captain, hasn’t been back long after an extended break following England’s Euro 2020 campaign.

But if both are available against the Spaniards for tomorrow’s friendly then it’s likely that they will be okay for the curtain raiser at Carrow Road.

Here’s what the Liverpool boss said about his star midfielders: “They will have a few minutes tomorrow. They trained this morning – their pre-season starts now but tomorrow we will see them.”

With Georginio Wijnaldum having left Liverpool for Paris Saint-Germain this summer, it enhances Henderson and Thiago’s importance.

That’s because Klopp is yet to replace the Dutchman and at this rate, he probably isn’t going to sign an alternative.

With the injury-prone Naby Keita probably going to slot in there, it’s vitally important that the balance of Liverpool’s midfield isn’t overly disrupted by Wijnaldum’s absence.

And with Thiago and Henderson potentially fit for the Canaries, joining Fabinho in midfield, it’s just what the Reds need to start the season.
