Arsenal duo Mikel Arteta and Edu might’ve tuned in to watch Liverpool’s Champions League encounter last night.

Liverpool progressed into the quarter-final of the competition with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Inter Milan at Anfield.

And a reported Arsenal target scored a fine second-half goal to make it a nervy last half-an-hour for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit on Merseyside.

Lautaro Martinez has been linked with a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

FC Inter 1908 reported last month that the Gunners were interested in the Argentine attacker – and even the Liverpool manager has given him credit for his goal last night.

Speaking after the game to the club’s official website, Klopp, whose side lost 1-0 on the night thanks to Martinez, said about the South American: “The goal we conceded, we shouldn’t have conceded, even when the finish was really brilliant, but we could have done [things] different before.”

Really brilliant

Arsenal are going to need a couple of lethal strikers this summer, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both out of contract, leaving Folarin Balogun – on loan at Middlesbrough – as their only recognised number nine.

And it bodes well for the North Londoners that the Liverpool boss has complimented Martinez on his finishing because, well, that’s exactly what the Gunners need.

Even when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was there, the conversion of chances was difficult for Arsenal.

They need a pure killer up front, someone to make the most of chances, and going by Martinez’s performance at Anfield, and Klopp’s comments about his finishing, well maybe he fits the bill.
