Jurgen Klopp has reacted to Mohamed Salah’s new Liverpool contract.
This afternoon, Liverpool announced that the Egypt international had signed a new long-term extension, drawing a line a lot of speculation.
Salah has reportedly signed a £350,000-a-week contract to stay at Anfield, with his previous contract expiring next summer.
The 30-year-old has been arguably Europe’s best and most consistent player in recent years, despite struggling in the Ballon d’Or stakes in the same time period.
However, Klopp has claimed that Salah’s best years are still ahead of him.
He told Liverpool’s official website: “I have no doubt Mo’s best years are still to come. And that’s saying something, because the first five seasons here have been the stuff of legend.”
Frightening
This, quite honestly, is a frightening proposition for Premier League defences.
The idea that Salah hasn’t even peaked – according to Klopp, at least – means Liverpool could be getting one hell of a footballer over the coming years.
Well, he’s already a special player but, going by Klopp, this is a player who’s set to get a lot better and that’s ever so exciting for Reds supporters – and terrifying for everyone else.
