Liverpool fans have to wait a little longer before seeing Thiago back in action, it seems.
The 29-year-old has played just 132 minutes of Premier League football for the Reds this season following a summer move from Bayern Munich.
But he hasn’t kicked a ball for Liverpool since October following a rash challenge by Richarlison in the Merseyside derby with Everton.
There was optimism last week when Thiago was photographed at the club’s Axa Training Centre, prompting suggestions that he could be involved against West Bromwich Albion tomorrow.
But although Jurgen Klopp has ruled him out because he isn’t yet back in full training, the Liverpool boss confirmed that he isn’t far away from a return.
He said to the club’s official website: “Thiago made his first steps back towards team training. He is not involved in the full session but makes good steps and after, unfortunately, the long time he is out now, we cannot and will not rush it,” explained Klopp.
“He will not be involved, he has to first be in full training sessions and then we start thinking about it. He is not too far away, I hope.”
The good news is that Liverpool should, in theory, have too much for the Baggies tomorrow.
Klopp’s side are top of the Premier League and even without Thiago you’d fancy them to beat Albion.
That being said, if the Reds are top of the table without the Spain international then it makes you wonder how much better they can get with Thiago.
