Let’s face it, injuries have done a number on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side this season.

Considering there’s eight games left in the Premier League season for Liverpool – who are the champions – and they’re 25 points behind leaders Manchester City, you could say that injuries have been unkind to the Reds.

And they have.

Klopp has had to contend with a freakishly-cruel crisis in regards to centre-back options, with the German forced to use over 20 different combinations in that position since September due to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip being sidelined.

If there is such a thing as the football Gods, Klopp has clearly done something to anger them somewhere down the line, but the Liverpool boss revealed something positive – and quite rare, the season that’s been in it – on Friday.

Speaking to a press conference [The Echo] ahead of Saturday’s visit of Aston Villa, Klopp, whose side lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, confirmed that he has no new injuries to report.

With the exception of the long-term absentees, Liverpool have a full compliment of players available to them this afternoon in what is quite a rare turn of events, when you consider their issues.

With one leg dangling out of the Champions League, the Reds need to finish in the top four to book their place in that competition next term and if the football Gods can give Klopp and his charges a bit of a break between now and the end of the season, they might just do it.
