Last night was about taking the positives for Liverpool.
Yes, they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Manchester City, but there are still some reasons to be cheerful.
Like for example, Darwin Nunez, despite missing a few goalscoring opportunities, was still getting the chances to begin with, which is massive.
And then Fabio Carvalho getting himself on the scoresheet during such a major game, the 20-year-old having only joined Liverpool last summer.
Also, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s performance was definitely a positive.

The former Arsenal winger played a wonderful outside-of-the-boot ball in the build-up to Mohamed Salah’s goal at the Etihad and this is someone who could be Jurgen Klopp’s secret weapon.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, a £40 million signing in 2017 [Guardian], has practically been written off at Liverpool at this point, following a number of years being out of form and out of fitness.
But last night was a reminder that he can still be an influential player under Klopp and in a shaky, aging midfield, the former England international is certainly good enough to hit the right notes.
Now 29, Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the prime of his career and what a shame it’d be if it passes him by, like every year virtually has since 2018.
With his contract expiring in six months, this is a player who needs a strong second half of the campaign to either earn a new deal at Anfield, or convince other elite clubs that he’s worth signing on a Bosman.
