Premier League football is back this weekend, and as ever, Liverpool are one team everyone is excited about seeing this season.

The Reds have been given a decent billing this weekend, they’re on TV for the 5:30PM kick-off on Saturday night against Norwich City, and they’ll be hoping to start with a bang.

As Liverpool fans know, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Reds face the Canaries on the opening day, with this fixture acting as the curtain-raiser back in 2019/20 – Liverpool’s title-winning campaign.

The Reds won 4-1 that day, and they’ll be hoping for a similar result this time around, and with that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI for this one.

Unsurprisingly, we’ve picked Alisson Becker as our starting goalkeeper for this one.

The big news comes at centre-back in our XI. We expect Virgil van Dijk to make his long-awaited return, and we think he’ll be partnered by new signing Ibrahima Konate.

No disrespect to Norwich, but this should be a nice game to ease van Dijk back into proceedings, while it will be a great chance for the Dutchman to form a partnership with Konate.

Trent Alexander-Arnold starts on the right, but sadly there’s no Andy Robertson due to injury, so Kostas Tsimikas comes in.

Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson were late to return to pre-season, so there’s no place for them in our midfield, with James Milner and Naby Keita starting alongside Fabinho.

The famous front three we’ve grown accustomed to seeing in recent years start this one, with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane combining.
