Jurgen Klopp has warned his Liverpool side that tonight’s League Cup clash with Arsenal will be ‘super hard’.
The Reds welcome Mikel Arteta’s side to Anfield for the second time in a few days.
Arsenal lost 3-1 at Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday but, with this being a cup competition, the outcome could be a little different.
Not only is Klopp expected to ring the changes and play a second-string XI, but cup competitions are becoming something of a specialty for the Gunners boss, who led Arsenal to an FA Cup win last season, beating Manchester City and Chelsea in the semi-final and final.
And the German manager has admitted that he ‘really loves’ the squad that his Spanish counterpart is building in North London – but insisted he loved his own team a lot more.
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “Tonight will be hard – super hard. Again, without sounding like an Arsenal fan, I really love their squad and I love what they do at the moment.
“But I love us more. I love what we do. I love what we stand for and how we approach our work. I love the humility of our approach and our commitment to be better in each given moment.”
Even if Klopp uses the second string, this Liverpool side has goals in them.
They thrashed Lincoln City 7-2 in the previous round and although they’re a League One team, it’s still a ruthless demonstration that Arsenal – whoever they field – will need to be on their game.
