Liverpool could be on the verge of repeating one of their greatest transfer masterstrokes by signing Evan Ndicka on a free transfer this summer. The French defender has been making waves in the Bundesliga and has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with TeamTalk reporting that Liverpool are interested in securing his services.

Signing Ndicka on a free transfer would be reminiscent of the Reds’ signing of Joel Matip on similar terms seven years ago. Both players were young, talented centre-backs plying their trade in the Bundesliga, and both would be signed on free transfers.

Matip has gone on to establish himself as a key player for Liverpool, forming a formidable partnership with Virgil van Dijk that has helped the Reds win numerous trophies.

Ndicka has been making a name for himself at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he has been a regular starter since joining the club in 2018. The 23-year-old defender has been attracting the attention of the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona, but now, Liverpool are in the race.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of centre-backs in recent months, such as Josko Gvardiol, who has supposedly been scouted on a number of occasions.
