The Liverpool defender played half a friendly match this weekend.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the club’s official website after defender Joe Gomez played 45 minutes of a behind-closed-doors friendly this weekend.
The 19-year-old has been out of action since October 2015, when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
It was a cruel blow for a player who had impressed in his early months at Anfield and looked a star in the making despite his tender age.

He has since been on the long road to recovery, and after returning to first-team training Gomez used the latest international break to get some action under his belt in a friendly clash against Accrington Stanley.
Liverpool used the match to give run-outs to some of the other senior stars who are not in action for their countries this week, but Klopp understandably spoke about Gomez after the game.

“It is a long way,” Klopp told liverpoolfc.com. “He was injured for a long time and now it is a long way back, so there is no rush in it.
“We can give him time to come back in the right moment.”
Gomez has only seven matches for Liverpool’s first-team under his belt to date, yet in that brief period prior to his injury he showed just what a talent he is and for that reason among others the Reds will have no intention of rushing him back.
