Jurgen Klopp told the Liverpool Echo that both Diogo Jota and Xherdan Shaqiri are in ‘exceptional shape’ following their cameo performances during their 2-1 win against West Ham on Saturday.

The attacking duo came off from the bench to combine and help Liverpool secure a much-needed three points and move to the top of the table.

For Jota, he has made a quite sensational start since moving to Anfield from Wolves in the summer, whilst Shaqiri also showcased the depth in quality the Reds have in their ranks.

Following that late win against West Ham over the weekend, Klopp shared his thoughts on the duo and was especially pleased with the club’s new boy.

“They are in exceptional shape,” said Klopp. “Yes, Diogo. A good player. We were glad we could make that signing. A very good night.”

Liverpool’s recent form has been mightily impressive and it’s a sign to the rest of the league that they mean serious business despite off-field and on-field problems.

From the number of goals they are conceding, injury problems, going behind on a number of occasions, they are still racking up the points and sitting top of the tree.

Therefore, it has to be asked where on earth the current champions will be in six weeks time if they start getting back to their best?
