Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are a ‘force of nature’ for Liverpool, as he told his press conference.

The Liverpool boss was asked about the duo’s fitness levels and how they have been able to jump straight back into domestic action after competing at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Senegal ended up beating Egypt in the final of the competition, with Mane scoring the winning spot-kick in a nail-biting and nerve-racking shootout.

Straight after the final, Salah was back on Merseyside and on the bench for the Reds’ home win against Leicester, whilst Mane was in the XI for the recent win at Burnley.

Klopp referenced the duo not drinking alcohol as the main factor behind their quick recovery and why their fitness levels are so great.

“A week is no problem (to recover),” said Klopp. “Both boys don’t drink alcohol at all, so that’s the major problem that you have if you celebrate a big thing.

“That extends the recovery time if you drink. They are both a force of nature.

“Hopefully, it stays forever like this. They recover extremely quickly.

“For Mo, it was only a few days. For Sadio, it was a week because he had some celebrations in between. But I am not surprised about that.”

Both Salah and Mane are yet to get off the mark since returning from the AFCON’s and they will be hoping to put that right in a few hours time.

Liverpool are in Milan where they will lock horns with Serie A champions Inter in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash.

Manchester City have already showcased their power by putting five past Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.

But, in truth, the gulf in quality Liverpool have to face compared to Man City is majorly different.
