Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne has told Goal that Jurgen Klopp’s celebrations inspire them to perform better.

The German boss completes a year in charge at the club this week after replacing Brendan Rodgers last season.

It has been a fascinating first 12 months for him on Merseyside in which he the Reds to two cup finals last year and fourth in the table so far this season.

A staple of his time in charge has been his exuberance on the touchline, with him and his team often celebrating wildly when they score or win games.

That lively nature is something that has gone down well with the fans and Clyne has told Goal that it also has a positive effect on the players.

“Everyone wants to do well for their manager because he gets involved,” he said.

“He basically wants to be on the pitch and you can see that from the goal celebrations when he runs up and down the touchline. If you see a manager do that, it makes you put in, even more, effort on the pitch.”

It now remains to be seen if Klopp can inspire Liverpool to be top four contenders or better this season.

The Reds have started the season strongly and currently sit fourth in the table, just two points behind leaders Manchester City.

They will look to continue their current strong form after the international break when they take on sixth-placed Manchester United on Monday Night Football.
