Jurgen Klopp has announced some ‘great’ news regarding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury.

The Liverpool star – who earns £120,000-a-week at Anfield – last appeared competitively for the Reds on July 26th, grabbing an assist in the final day win over Newcastle.

However, an injury in training has kept him out for months. Now though, Klopp has confirmed that the England international is nearing a return.

BT Sport quote the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss as saying: ‘It’s long eh? Unbelievable. I still remember the situation in training; a normal challenge: one (player) gets up, the other not.

‘He is on the pitch with the ball, with the team and it is great for him and great for us. We will not rush it but when he is long enough in normal team training then of course he becomes an option immediately and that’s good. Absolutely good.’

This is truly fantastic news for the former Arsenal man, and for Liverpool.

Oxlade-Chamberlain offers a dynamism that is unique among Klopp’s midfield options.

Naby Keita likes to float and dribble, Fabinho likes to get stuck in, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum do almost everything, Thiago orchestrates from deep and Curtis Jones is becoming a goal threat who arrives late into the box.

However, in Oxlade-Chamberlain, Klopp has a direct, physical and energetic option, who also has a shot in his locker which packs a real punch.

Ever since damaging his cruciate ligament in that Champions League semi-final first leg against AS Roma, times have largely been tough for the Southampton academy graduate.

Hopefully, when he’s ready to return to action, the 27-year-old can avoid picking up anymore cruel injuries and kickstart his Liverpool career again.
