Liverpool face Derby County tonight in the EFL Cup third round.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp insisted he does not have a number one goalkeeper at the club, as summer signing Loris Karius returns from injury, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Klopp signed the 23-year-old German from former club Mainz in July, but a hand injury he sustained in pre-season prevented him from being involved in the early stages of the Reds’ Premier League campaign.

Asked whether Karius will be installed as Liverpool’s number one, Klopp was emphatic in his response, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“There is no number one so there is no decision to make, it is all about performing, improvement and showing how much you can help the team. You need a manager who increases your confidence. The pressure on the players is big enough so I don’t have to make any more.”
Simon Mignolet has received his fair share of criticism over the past year or so, after making a series of high profile errors throughout the course of last season.

With Karius out injured for the past six weeks, however, the Belgian has kept goal for the Merseyside’s in all six of their games, conceding eight goals.
Klopp’s men have started their Premier League campaign in impressive fashion, with wins away at Arsenal, Chelsea and drawing at Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite Klopp’s words, he must surely decide who his first choice is over the next few games.
One of the keys to a good defence is stability, and without a regular goalkeeper, that most certainly cannot be achieved.
