Jurgen Klinsmann told ESPN that Tottenham players need to follow Jose Mourinho in being ‘nasty’ on the pitch.
As expressed by Mourinho himself in the All or Nothing documentary, he urged the Spurs players to be a word too colourful to be used on this platform and it seems they have been taking it on board.
Tottenham’s win against Manchester City on Saturday typified a Mourinho team being crafted together with his experienced hands and words of wisdom.
It also confirmed that the North London outfit, who have been starved of major trophies for decades, may well land one with a coach who is regarded as their rivals – Chelsea’s – greatest ever manager.
Either way, Spurs fans won’t care one jot if Mourinho puts the Premier League trophy in their cabinet and Klinsmann thinks the players can do the business.
“There is definitely a chance this year to win the title and if they really get this piece of mentality that transmits,” said Klinsmann. “Jose Mourinho, he is a winner. He’s a nasty piece of a coach.
“If he kind of transmits that to his squad. This belief that it’s going to be a marathon, it’s going to be a long, long way. But it’s going to be a fascinating battle between the top teams in England this year.
“Spurs definitely has the squad and the players to win it this year.”

For months now, questions have been asked as to what these behind-closed-door matches will throw up.
Well, it has resulted in six different teams topping the Premier League table and if such a pattern continues during the second half of the campaign then this may well be the seasons of all seasons.
