Tottenham will challenge for the title as long as no other team runs away with it according to Jurgen Klinsmann.

We can understand why the former World Cup winner has said this, Tottenham look like the real deal this season, sitting second in the table after eight games, but we can’t help but disagree with his view.

Klinsmann says that Spurs will challenge as long as nobody else runs away with it, but that’s simply wrong.

Unfortunately, Tottenham have fallen into the trap of being over-reliant on one player.

Of course, we’re talking about Harry Kane.

Kane has had a hand in 79% of Tottenham’s goals this season, making him the most influential player in the division, and while it’s great to see Kane playing so well, it is worrying that he’s carrying so much of Spurs’ load at the moment.

Tottenham’s title challenge is a house of cards at the moment, and it could all come crashing down if Kane picks up an injury.

Unfortunately, this is a far too often occurrence at Tottenham, Kane has had serious injuries in each of the last two seasons, and Spurs haven’t coped too well without their star man in those times.

Tottenham won just three of the 11 Premier League and Champions League games Kane missed last season, and that type of form will get you nowhere near a Premier League title.

The fact of the matter is that Tottenham are too reliant on the England captain, and unless they can give him reinforced muscles, indestructible ligaments and a bionic skeleton, he is unfortunately at risk of being injured at any time.

Klinsmann is right, Spurs could challenge this season, but there is more than one thing that could derail their campaign, and an injury to is the biggest threat to their charge.

Fingers crossed Kane can get through this season without any injury issues.
