Speaking to ESPN, Jurgen Klinsmann has said that Tottenham can challenge for the Premier League title as long as no other team begins to run away with the league.
Pundits have often found themselves debating Tottenham’s title chances recently, and Klinsmann believes they have enough to be in the conversation.
In recent years, we’ve been able to discount a number of teams from the title race early on in the season.
Liverpool and Manchester City’s brilliance has meant that teams have had to be almost perfect in recent years.
Indeed, City and Liverpool have been the standout teams in each of the last three seasons, with 98 points being the lowest tally to win a title in the past three seasons.
However, this season looks set to be a much tighter race, and Klinsmann believes that Spurs can be in the mix as long as no other team puts together a run like the ones we’ve seen from Liverpool and City in recent years.
“You’ve got to be determined, you’ve got to be tough, you’ve got to be able to sacrifice certain elements throughout the season,” Klinsmann said.
“It’s a marathon, and as long as nobody runs away in that marathon, which it looks like this season, then there’s a chance for Spurs.”

Tottenham have consistently been amongst the best of the rest outside of the true title challengers, but this season it seems as though everyone else is off their game.
Man City are struggling, while Liverpool have a plethora of injury problems that will likely affect their results going forward, so the door is open for Tottenham.
Klinsmann knows what it takes to win, after all, he is a former Bundesliga champion and a World Cup winner, so the fact that he things Spurs have what it takes says a lot.
Tottenham fans will be hoping that Klinsmann’s comments on a potential title challenge prove to be true.
