Tottenham appear to be encouraged by young striker.
Tottenham Hotspur appear very pleased with the progress being made by young striker Kion Etete.
The summer recruit from Notts County was handed his first under-23 start at the weekend as reward for encouraging performances a level below.
Etete has scored three goals in seven under-18 games and provided one assist.
He was also on target in the UEFA Youth League for the under-19s in midweek, netting after coming off the bench.
Tottenham seem keen to test him, with a start against Wolves his first at under-23 level. He had previously played as a late substitute for the team in a loss against Brighton.
Etete did not score for Spurs in the 2-1 win, but he was a constant threat at his teammates fired in crosses for him.
Tottenham’s goals came from two of these crosses, but it was Samuel Shashoua who capitalised on poor defending from Wolves.
This snapped a run of six games without a win for Tottenham’s under-23s, and it is likely Etete will get more chances.
Troy Parrott was not involved, and he is pushing for a first team spot. The closer he gets, the better it is for Etete as he will also in turn step up.
