Thomas Christiansen was appointed the Leeds United head coach in the summer of 2017.

Christiansen was appointed the Leeds head coach in the summer of 2017 following the departure of Garry Monk – who is now in charge of Championship rivals Middlesbrough – at the end of last season.
Orta also arrived at Elland Road in the summer, getting the role of director of football of the West Yorkshire outfit.

It is widely known that it is Orta who decides on the signings, and many fans will wonder how this works and whether head coach Christiansen is happy with this arrangement.
Leeds managing director Kinnear has said that Christiansen knew what he could do before he took the head coach role at Elland Road, and has suggested that there is a good relationship between him and Orta.

“The reality is that Thomas wouldn’t have taken the position (as head coach) if he didn’t have the controls he wanted,” Kinnear told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “The pair work really well together.
“Victor heads up football administration and strategy across the whole club. It’s a much broader role than just a guy who makes signings but his role in the recruitment process is critical.”
Leeds will take on Middlesbrough at Elland Road in the Championship this weekend.
