Kingsley Schindler is ‘surprised’ by links to Norwich City.
Holstein Kiel wide man Kingsley Schindler has told Fussball.com that he was surprised to see new speculation linking him with Norwich City last week.
The Canaries had another busy summer in the transfer market, as they brought in eight signings, including Jordan Rhodes, Teemu Pukki and Emiliano Buendia.
Ever since Stuart Webber’s arrival as director of football and the appointment of Daniel Farke as manager, Norwich have been hugely active when it comes to the German market.
Mario Vrancic, Christoph Zimmermann, Marcel Franke, Marco Stiepermann, Onel Hernandez, Mortiz Leitner and Dennis Srbeny have all arrived from German clubs, with German ace Tom Trybull arriving from Den Haag too.
Norwich were seemingly looking for more though, as the Eastern Daily Press reported last week that the Canaries were hoping to snap up Kingsley Schindler of Holstein Kiel before Friday’s loan deadline.
Schindler, 25, impressed in the second tier of German football last season, hitting 12 goals in 33 games for Kiel whilst impressing with his blistering pace.
Capable of playing at right back or on the right wing, Schindler could have been an impressive signing for the Canaries, but no deal went through before Fridays’ deadline.
Now, Schindler has told Fussball.com that he was ‘surprised’ by the new links to Norwich given that he had made it clear he was seeing out the final year of his Kiel contract, but that means that the Canaries will certainly get the chance to land him for free when his deal expires next summer.
“They surprised me very much, after all, I decided a while ago to fulfil my contract with KSV,” said Schindler. “So it’s even more surprising that I was recently connected to Norwich City again,” he added.
