Tottenham Hotspur fans have praised Eric Dier after his latest comments on the Europa Conference League.

While speaking to the Daily Mirror, Dier suggested that Tottenham shouldn’t be content with just playing in European football.

Instead, Dier has claimed that he wants to see Tottenham get back to their best – when they were challenging for Europe’s biggest titles.

“We need to be challenging for European football. There has to be European football in this stadium. With no disrespect to the Conference League, we need to be playing above that. That’s what we should be striving towards,” he said.

And the comments have been appreciated by plenty of Tottenham fans, who feel Dier has really spoken the truth.

Rising back to the top?

It is easy to forget that it was only two years ago that Tottenham were playing in a Champions League final.

Their current squad seems a long way from matching those achievements, but they do still have more quality than they have shown in recent times.

Tottenham are now under pressure to fight their way back into contention for a European spot this term.

Spurs are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table, after a run of three straight defeats before their win against Aston Villa.

The good news for Nuno’s side is that they are still within touching distance of the top four, with most the leading contenders also dropping points.

But if Tottenham are to keep pace with the Champions League chasers then they will need to show greater consistency between now and the end of the campaign.
