Former Rangers loanee Vladimir Weiss dropped a not so subtle hint he would be keen on a Rangers return earlier this month.

This was by him liking a tweet from a Rangers fan hoping he would make a return to Ibrox.

Weiss played under new Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha at Al Gharafa, and he may be interested in comments from club supremo Dave King.

Rangers are yet to appoint a director of football, with King hinting Caixinha will have more say on signings than previously imagined.

He made clear that he expects Caixinha will consider re-signing players he has previously worked with.

He told the club website: “He probably got players in his mind already who he knows, maybe he’s worked with before, who he feels he’d like to bring in to the club.

“So when he gets to that point of assessing the squad I’d be very surprised if he didn’t use his existing network in terms of at least some of the contacts for the players coming in.”

This puts into play the idea of Rangers making a move for Slovakian winger Weiss, who played for the Gers during the 2010/11 season.

He is under contract to Al Gharafa until 2020 but at 27 will feel he has plenty still to offer in his career, having restored his confidence by netting eight goals in 15 games this season.

Time will tell if Caixinha feels that could be at Rangers, but King’s comments indicate if he wants Weiss, he will be given the opportunity to try and acquire him.
