Kimi Antonelli has seen the funny side of one of the Monaco Grand Prix’s strangest storylines.

The Mercedes driver took victory in Formula 1’s most iconic race, guiding his way through a chaotic afternoon to beat Lewis Hamilton to the flag.

But days later, part of the conversation was still about the white towel that never made it to him after the podium.

Kim Kardashian’s towel move has Kimi Antonelli searching

A viral Mercedes video showed Antonelli leaning into the moment, jokingly saying he was still looking for his towel in two separate clips.

The joke even extended to teammate George Russell, with the cameraman asking a confused Russell whether he had seen it.

It was a light response to a clip that had already frustrated many F1 fans. Kardashian was seen picking up a towel meant for Antonelli near the podium area after the race, while people nearby appeared to point out that it belonged to the winner.

Her team still left with it, and although Antonelli was presumably given a replacement, the clip quickly spread online.

Antonelli’s drive should have been the headline on its own. He won the Monaco GP for Mercedes, taking his fifth victory of the 2026 season and extending his championship lead.

Formula 1’s official report listed Antonelli first, Hamilton second for Ferrari, and Isack Hadjar third for Red Bull after a dramatic race with seven retirements.

For a 19-year-old to win at Monaco is already a massive moment. Having part of the post-race story turned into towelgate only made the situation more bizarre.

Her appearance generated attention before and after the race. Vogue reported that she wore a cream one-shoulder gown on race day, arrived with Khloe Kardashian, and later shared a quick embrace with Hamilton after the podium.

Other reports also noted Kardashian posing with Hamilton’s pink helmet after his result, adding to the celebrity spotlight around their weekend.

Antonelli still left Monaco with the win. Kardashian left with the towel controversy. Mercedes made sure their driver got the last laugh.
