Kiko Casilla is a player who just can’t stay out of the headlines at Leeds lately.
The Spaniard’s recent Instagram posts have caught the eyes of fans, and Marcelo Bielsa spoke about his decision to drop him from the squad in his recent press conference.
Bielsa confirmed that the Spaniard wasn’t dropped due to a fitness issue, and he said that he expects Caprile to keep his spot on the bench going forward, suggesting that Casilla is now firmly Leeds’ third-choice.
The Spaniard joined the club in January 2019 in Bielsa’s first season at the club, but his time at Leeds hasn’t gone to plan, making a number of high-profile mistakes over the last 12 months.
Add into this the fact that Phil Hay has recently said that he’s expected to be sold this summer, and it wouldn’t be too outlandish to suggest he’s already played his final game for the club.
“My understanding is that he is a player that they are thinking of trying to move on in the summer,” Hay said.
“They are going to make changes to the squad, and I think he is somebody that they would like to replace.”
This comes just a few weeks after Hay said people at board level were happy to see Bielsa go, and with Bielsa seemingly now preferring Caprile to him, it’s hard to see him staying at the club.

“There are people at Leeds and Elland Road who can see the value of moving Casilla on, I think they realise that it’s not going to get any better, and they realise that his reputation has taken a big hit after the racism charge and the ban that he served,” the journalist said.
With United out of both cups and only 10 Premier League games remaining, it’s difficult to see how Casilla gets another game for United before his seemingly inevitable departure this summer.
Barring an unlikely double injury blow to both Meslier and Caprile, it seems as though the ex-Real Madrid man may have played his last game for the Whites.
