Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is reportedly on Sevilla’s radar this summer.

It has been reported by Marca this week that Sevilla are showing an interest in Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla and considering offering the former Real Madrid man a return to Spain after a difficult time in England.

Casilla arrived at Elland Road during the January transfer window, and initially looked to be an inspired addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s ranks. He made a remarkable save on his debut, and his composure on the ball highlighted why he had spent so long on Los Blancos’ books.

Of course, the campaign would end on an extremely sour note for Casilla. Following his red card in the defeat to Sheffield United, his form seemed to desert him and his performances became extremely erratic, culminating in a scarcely-believable performance in the play-off semi-final against Derby.

There had been talk at the start of the summer that he may be on the way out of Leeds this summer, with The Sun on Sunday (26/5; page 69) reporting that the Whites were considering new goalkeepers.

Had he left while the dust will still settling on last season, there may not have been a lot of disappointment as many blamed Casilla for letting Derby get back into the semi-final when Leeds looked to be out of sight.

But with just over a week left before Leeds kick off their new Championship campaign away at Bristol City, it would now look like a mistake for the Whites to allow Casilla to leave unless Sevilla make an incredible offer.

Bielsa looks ready to keep faith with Casilla at the start of the new season. He has played regularly in pre-season, and looked more like the keeper that impressed in his first few weeks in England.

If he can sustain that kind of form for the entirety of the campaign, Casilla could be one of the surprises of the season with plenty of fans still sceptical that he can be relied upon.

No-one arguably experienced more of a dramatic change in form than Casilla towards the end of last season. He looks to be raring to go and set the record straight this time around, and Leeds may be making a much bigger mistake if they decide to let him leave.
