Glasgow Rangers’s reserves were bolstered with a number of the Ibrox first-team squad for their latest game.

Kieran Wright has told Rangers’s official website that the first-team players involved in the reserves’ latest game were different class, with Glen Kamara and Lassana Coulibaly amongst those to feature for Graeme Murty’s men.
The Gers played out a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone on Monday, with Glenn Middleton – another player who has spent most of the season around the senior side – scoring for the Light Blues.
Wright actually made himself the hero on the day with a penalty save just a couple of minutes from the end. But while the young goalkeeper may have stolen the headlines, it was the likes of Kamara, Coulibaly, Middleton and Matt Polster who would have felt under the most pressure to impress as they look to force their way into Gerrard’s plans.
And while they could not help Rangers secure a win, Wright insisted that the quartet made a very positive impression on the side.

“It was definitely a good experience playing with several first team players,” he told the club’s official website.
“I thought the first team boys that came down for us were different class, I thought the four of them helped us play better and with St Johnstone also having a lot of first team players out it helped us play better knowing we had to rise to the challenge.”

Coulibaly may perhaps be the player who will be feeling the most pressure after dropping down. While Middleton is yet to establish himself as a first-team regular – although he has come extremely close already – and Kamara and Polster are building their fitness, Coulibaly has previously been a key man for Gerrard.
There was a point earlier in the season where it looked as though signing Coulibaly permanently would be Rangers’ top priority this summer. But his form has dipped in recent months, and he has been a much more peripheral figure lately.
