Tottenham v Inter Milan is set to bring about some interesting individual battles.

Tottenham bowed out of the Champions League in the last 16 last season against Juventus, but they return to Europe’s elite club competition on 18 September.

Spurs have been drawn into a difficult Champions League group alongside Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side begin with a trip to Italian giants Inter, who the North London club have had memorable nights against in the past.

There are set to be a number of key individual battles in the game, including a throwback to this summer’s World Cup semi-final between England and Croatia.

Spurs right-back Kieran Trippier is likely to come up against a familiar winger in the shape of Inter’s Ivan Perisic, something that happened at the World Cup when their respective nations faced off.

Trippier is an attack-minded defender that can offer a lot going forward with his exquisite delivery, but will need to be switched on in the Champions League.

Perisic is a tricky wide man that has already scored twice in his opening three matches this season and is likely to trouble Pochettino’s side.

Another interesting duel could take place between the Belgian duo of Mousa Dembele and Radja Nainggolan.

Spurs powerhouse Dembele is a central midfielder that is a regular in the side and he may have to be at his best to cancel out the threat of Inter’s Nainggolan.

Both have impressed in Europe during recent years and the winner of that battle could help determine the outcome of the game.

One more eye-catching battle is set to take place between centre-forward Harry Kane and centre-back Stefan de Vrij.

Kane is one of the most feared attackers in world football and picked up the golden boot this summer at the World Cup for his six goals, while he managed seven in seven in the Champions League last season.

But upcoming opponent De Vrij is a highly-rated Dutch defender that could prove a difficult opponent.
