Kieran Trippier has received some bad news on the injury front on Monday morning, but that has not stopped him teasing Newcastle teammate Ryan Fraser on Instagram. He posted a picture of Fraser, alongside Dan Burn.

Trippier, 31, scored a second free-kick in as many games to help the Toon secure a third successive win – beating Aston Villa 1-0. After a 1-0 win over Leeds, Trippier netted in the 3-1 victory against Frank Lampard’s Everton.

The January recruit from Atletico Madrid has been pivotal to Newcastle since his arrival at the club. A leader, he even captained the Toon against Villa on Sunday afternoon in the absence of defender Jamaal Lascelles.

Trippier went off during the game and The Mail report that x-rays have now shown that the England defender has suffered a broken foot – though he will be able to play again this season, according to Craig Hope.

But that did not stop Trippier from teasing teammate Fraser, with whom he has formed a partnership on the right flank at Newcastle. He joked, why Fraser was allowed to stand next to new signing Burn on Saturday.

It is testament to a player like Fraser that he is still upbeat, despite suffering a long-term injury. Fraser himself spoke of Trippier and his impact behind the scenes, saying he is getting the best out of his new teammates.

Even if he is injured over the next couple of months, Trippier will still have an impact in the dressing room and in and around the lads in training. But losing Trippier on the pitch, of course, is a huge blow to the Toon.
