Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier has told The Beautiful Game podcast that he has heard Tottenham Hotspur’s Tanguy Ndombele is ‘unbelievable’ and ‘frightening’.
Trippier was sold by Mauricio Pochettino last summer as Tottenham attempted to make changes ahead of the new season.
Trippier headed off to Atletico Madrid, and whilst he departed the club, Spurs shattered their transfer record to bring in Ndombele from Lyon.
The Frenchman had been an absolute star with Lyon, turning in stunning performances following a 2017 move from Amiens.
Ndombele looked to be the ideal heir to Mousa Dembele. He had the same ability to drive past players through midfield with a combination of power and skill, and Spurs fans were understandably frustrated.
Yet whilst they have seen signs of Ndombele’s quality, it hasn’t been consistent enough. Form and fitness have deserted Ndombele for large spells of the season, and he hasn’t played a single minute since football returned.

Jose Mourinho doesn’t appear to be a huge fan of Ndombele, and Trippier has now shared what he has heard – presumably from his former Spurs teammates – about Ndombele.
Trippier noted that he hasn’t played with Ndombele, but has watched him play and been told that he is both ‘unbelievable’ and ‘frightening’ – hopefully, Spurs fans get to see that regularly soon.
“I’ve not played with [Ndombele] but I’ve seen him play. From what I hear he’s unbelievable and supposedly he’s frightening,” said Trippier.
