Former Manchester City prospect Kieran Trippier has joined Tottenham Hotspur from Burnley.

Newly-signed Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has taken to social networking site Twitter to thank the Burnley fans for their support over the past four years.

The 24-year-old right-back has joined Premier League outfit Spurs from Championship club Burnley on a five-year contract.

“At Burnley, we knew it was going to be difficult last year but now, coming to Spurs, I want to improve,” added Trippier on Tottenham’s official website.

“I’m hungry to remain involved in the Premier League, it’s where I’ve always wanted to be since I was very young and I’ve got a great chance now with Tottenham.

“I’ll take every opportunity I get with both hands and hopefully play my part for everyone at the club.”

Trippier initially joined Burnley on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City in the summer of 2011 and moved to the Clarets on a permanent contract in 2012.

Over the past three years, the former England Under-21 international established himself as one of the best players for Burnley.

The 24-year-old was an important player for Burnley in the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign, and did all he could to prevent the Clarets from getting relegated to the Championship.

Trippier created 63 chances in 38 Premier League appearances in 2014-15. The 24-year-old had a pass accuracy of 61% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won 68 headers, 26 dribbles and 57 tackles.
